Ron Paul Vs Mitt Romeny EDUCATION Mitt Romney “I’ve taken a position where, once upon a time, I said I wanted to eliminate the Department of Education. That was my position when I ran for Senate in 1994. [Now]… I see that the Department of Education can actually make a difference. So I supported No Child Left Behind. I still do.†View Romney’s education proposal here and also view a short video. Romney gives his endorsement of the testing policies of “No Child Left Behind.†Having family members who are public school teachers I’m constantly hearing about how much this program is actually inhibiting the student’s progress ? by setting often unreachable and/or meaningless standards in certain subjects (math, science, etc), devoting far too much time to the “testing†(rote memorization) aspect of the process and taking time away from the more meaningful teacher-student learning process that used to occur more in schools. Ron Paul “Increasing parental control of education is superior to funneling more federal tax dollars, followed by greater federal control, into the schools…. So I don’t think that the Republican position ought to be more bureaucracy. I mean, why did we double the size of the Department of Education?†(Thanks Paul4Prez ) In the recent debate Romney was asked “… if you were president of the United States, would you need to go to Congress to get authorization to take military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities?’†“Romney responded, ‘You sit down with your attorneys and (they) tell you what you have to do.’†Has he even read the Constitution? This idea of going to his lawyers to manipulate the law already set forth by the Constitution is very reckless and shows no respect for a document he would swear to “preserve, protect, and defend†if elected. What else would he use his lawyers to change or circumvent in the Constitution? For a comparison table, please refer this page
