Tho Obama is most likely the obvious choice in the forthcoming election, does he really represent change? Ron Paul doesn't think so. Compelling speech that should be a must-hear for Obama supporters. Go, Ron! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez5robAWmu4 Man, I just can't support McCain.. wish Ron was the nominee!
I kinda have to agree with you a bit there.. I hear McCain said he'd love to have Cheney in his administration.. uhm, ugh!
Won't make much of a difference. The warfare/welfare bureaucracy is institutionalized. The great illusion in this election, is that getting rid of Bush, will solve all of our problems. The problems are systemic, and persist from Presidency to Presidency. We need real change, not more of the same. And when it comes to big domestic spending, Obama is the same. When it comes to implementing Israeli foreign policy, Obama is the same.
Ridley, I been missing you around here. Do you know the guy in NH who does the Ridley Report YouTubes?
change comes in little by little. the most important thing if obama wins is what will produce real change in the next few election. the fundraising is being moved to internet. it started with dean and evolved with RP and exploded with obama and if he wins will increase the power of the people and decrease the influence of lobbyist. it can lead to major changes. the youth of today are the middle aged of tomorrow and if they are empowered like this it would be great.
I agree that there will be some minor changes at least under an Obama presidency.. but I do think he will need to make some major policy changes to overcome the challenges he'll be facing.
The thing you miss out on people don't really care about cleaning up politics. As long as "their" politician is in power, no matter how bad, how many wars they start, how many rights they step on, they'll be loved, just as long as it is "their" man. Just look at the people that curse out Bush for destroying rights, but Chavez steals them and he's a good guy lol. Hilarious.
See, we live by an ideology, not a "popularity" contest where people have invested their ego in a candidate. For us, if someone takes our freedom, it is wrong. It doesn't matter if they're republican, democrats, green, pink, black blue, labor, communist, etc. They take it is wrong. Other people don't like getting the shaft from Bush, but they'll bend over and ask for seconds from Obama. I think it's cute.
I think it's sad. The only thing more sad is, some of them won't even have the conversation. In another thread, I'm trying to explain why Net Neutrality is bad. But trying to explain to a socialist that they can't improve the world by regulating the corporations beyond competition falls on deaf ears. Everyone is fighting over the bullhorn.
