Why should anyone be soooooooooo surprised. He ran on the '88 presidential election on the Libertarian ticket and lost. He may say a lot of quality things that the US government should do, but cant get enough support and or votes. And thats even with record breaking records on donations via the internet. It would nearly impossible for Paul to ever get elected as the US President. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080612/ap_on_el_pr/ron_paul The only way people like Paul or other parties and or people to run for office and win if we change some of the ways we vote, such as the Instant Runoff Voting(IRV)
Paul has done a heroic job, and he's entitled to quit whenever he wishes. He was never running to seek power, but to educate and spread a message of liberty and constitutional government. I'm kinda surprised that there are people who still think he was all about winning. Where he has won, has been outlasting no-message wannabees like Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani. Paul quite soundly beat the living daylights out of Giuliani in this election. America's Mayor, Mr. 9/11.
if it weren't for him, i'd still be a neocon. changed a lot of people for the better, now someone's gotta pick up that torch and lead once more. there'll be a statue built after him for sure, once I'm a billionaire, it will be a pleasure.
I never saw or heard in his announcement that he quit. I did hear that he was launching a new site and intiative. He never said he "dropped out" or "quit". The media did. God love the media...
Bob Barr is running for the Libertarians, http://www.bobbarr2008.com/home/?s=0609-continue no way in hell he will win.
