Ron Paul Officially Announce That He Is Running For President 2012!

If a president didn't have so much direct control over foreign policy, and so little direct control over the budget, he'd have my vote. We'll have to settle for a Romney or Gingrich and focus on a tea party laden congress.

I remember when the Ron Paul supporters were everywhere during the last campaign, he had a tremendous online following. At the time I didn't know the guy well, but as time has passed, he seems like he would be a great candidate. Trump is a goofball, and from what I have heard he has officially announced he would not be running.

Paul has my vote if he can make it.

It makes me wonder if Paul will run as a Libertarian when he loses the Republican Primary, and how that would effect the general election. I suspect he wouldn't get too many folks from the left to vote for him.

 

Optimism for the tea party Congress may be the best harbinger for the resurgent Democrats - Both houses of Congress will be in play in 2012.

I think you'll see even more democrats go in 2012. People are fed up, and still pretty pissed... Nothing has changed since last November in the minds of voters. We're just waiting for another round of incumbents to remove.

"Optimism for the tea party Congress (by republicans) may be the best harbinger for the resurgent Democrats" - From your post, the electorate remains unsettled as not having been satisfied by the outcome of the 2010 elections and with a clearer perspective will in 2012 chose reason over extremism.

 

Generic ballot has Repulicans +7, up from +3 last week. I guess the Osama Bin Laden bounce is already starting to fade. It will be interesting to see if the angst is still there as election day 2012 approaches, the only time it really counts. Looking at the dithering going on over the deficit, I'm guessing we will see the Republicans lead trending up into the double digits over the next 18 months.
