NPR Radio Interview ~ Ron Paul's 'Revolution'

Paul at his charming best. Such a good interview... I can't recommend it highly enough.

Ron Paul revolution sees second wind
    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10353.html

    ---

There was a reader email to the LRC blog, which sparked more emails...

Writes Matthew Dailey: " "I'm a twenty-one year-old living in northern California. About a year ago, I was the most leftist of the left, a product of my high school education I'm ashamed to say. But when Ron Paul entered the national political scene last summer, I started to pay attention. Since then, my views on economic freedom have vastly changed. Now I'm a daily visitor to lewrockwell.com and the blog. Thank you for giving me a place to feel sane."

Writes Charles Krblich II: "Last year (coming from the most fascist of the right), I never would have agreed with Matthew Dailey -- the man who wrote you. Now however, I find that a common ground exists between us. Not only has Ron Paul changed his world view, but he has also changed mine, and LRC.com is where I get to deluge myself with this perfectly sane and rational world view. As Ron Paul says himself in his book THE REVOLUTION, 'And despite their philosophical differences in some areas, these folks typically found, to their surprise, that they rather liked each other.'"

Writes Anthony Ajamian: "Much like Charles and Matthew said, Ron Paul changed me. Not so much my political views as I've been a libertarian since I could register to vote, but how I saw things as a whole. When the Ron Paul revolution started, I was a 21 year old metal head who attended a college that had some pretty socialistic leanings. Being in the kind of environment when you're a firm believer in free markets and liberty can bring out the pessimist in you, so I lost quite a bit of interest in other people, what they believed, what their political leanings were, etc. I just didn't think there were other people out there who cared about liberty anymore.

"It took me a bit to throw myself into the Ron Paul meetups, as I had no idea what to expect. Each time I went to the meetup, I found folks of all types, subcultures, ethnicities, religions... No two people believed in the same thing; everyone was there to work hard for freedom. Young people, the elderly, some marijuana activists, folks with quite strong religious tones, and even a Chinese immigrant who came here looking to be part of the 'land of the free', and was sorely dissapointed.

"Ron Paul is right: liberty unites us."

Tri-Lateral Commission (aka the Puppet Masters) have Clinton, Obama and McCain in the pocket but are "Petrified About Paul"

While they are confident they can deal with any “potential president,” the Trilateralists paid huge tribute to Ron Paul in an equally large twist of irony, by expressing alarm that he is causing “significant future damage.”

They expressed concern that Paul’s rallies have attracted multitudes of young people who are getting “their political education.” They want Republicans to pressure Paul to drop out now and stop his education rallies. This assignment was given to Thomas Foley, former U.S. House speaker.

The reasons Paul’s “education campaign” strikes fear into Trilateral hearts are obvious. Paul would refuse to surrender an ounce of U.S. sovereignty to an international organization and TC wants world government.

    Missing the Ron Paul Element
    http://www.cnbc.com/id/25074122

I haven't been reporting lately, but Paul really kicked butt in Idaho with 24%, and did well in the other remaining primaries.

Unfortunately, state GOP delegations have treated Paulites badly, and the Minnesota GOP actually threw Ron Paul (the man) out from a speaking engagement. IIRC, this was the same convention that booed an injured Iraq war veteran who rose to speak for Ron Paul. How shameful is that?

The good news is, the neocons are on the run. The bad news is, McCain might have a chance against Obama.

But the revolution continues. Gathering momentum, changing the dialog, inspiring people to activism....

Red flag if I ever saw one. Says to me that the Neo-Republicans love war vets - as long as they still agree with the war.

I've been busy with some other liberty oriented stuff, so I haven't been following Paul as intimately as before. I will look out there and see if there is any.

I'm not supporting either of them. I'm supporting Mark Sanford in 2012 if he runs. Tactically, it's not in my long term hopes best interest to see a Republican in office when the economy falls off a cliff.

    Are you ?
I could have sworn you were dead set against McCain.

I myself will not be supporting either myself.

McCain is the worst possible choice, except for Barack Obama.

Either your are voting for that asshole McCain or you are -- by your inaction -- supporting Obama's blueprint for a socialist America.

A couple of relevant quotes from everyone's favorite Indian nationalist:
    • You may think your actions are meaningless and that they won't help, but that is no excuse, you must still act.
    • Noncooperation with evil is as much a duty as cooperation with good.
Basically, what we are seeing now from the Ron Paul supporters is exactly what I predicted. They were only pretending to be Republicans in order to sabotage the party. Most are now supporting Obama.

    This is total foolishness.

McCain isn't a constitutionalist, he isn't a civil libertarian, he's not a strong fiscon, or socon. He was actually going to defect to the Dems or become an independent after 2000.

There is no point in being a Republican if being Republican doesn't mean something. That is what the Paul people are working for. You're looking short term at the closest election. The Paulites haven't given up, they are still doing amazing things, running dozens of candidates and talking about 2010 and 2012.

Goldwater '64 revolution with the YAF didn't bear fruit until 1980. This turnaround can be much better, much faster.

And if you read any of my posts on the forum lately, you certainly wouldn't be using me as the model of an Obama supporter. I kick him in the teeth daily. Have for months.

But McCain? He'll destroy the Republican brand forever. And that's simply not acceptable to me. I refuse to buy into partisanship without principle.

I think it says a lot about you that you will vote for an @sshole, instead of abstaining. What good is your vote?

By refusing to vote for McCain, you are in effect supporting Obama.

This is the same as if you were walking down a street and saw a woman being raped in an alley. By refusing to act, you are in effect supporting the rapist.

In this case, that woman is Lady Liberty.

Nonsense. That's the sort of electoral games that have created the two party system, which in my opinion, is totally undemocratic.

Voting against Obama means endorsing McCain. Both are garbage.

I mean really, what sort of democracy is based on voting for someone who doesn't deserve it, only because they are slightly less evil than the other choice?

Any big wonder we don't pick our leaders on merit, and end up with Slick Willy and Monkey George?

No. The analogy doesn't hold. Voting for McCain over Obama when both suck, it's like beating the rapist into retreat, then raping the woman yourself.

Will claimed to be a libertarian, but he's not familiar with the notion of positive and negative rights.

Solving starvation is a positive obligation, that cannot be fully satisfied. And likewise, stopping every crime, every rape, every murder.

That's why he uses the analogy. It's emotionally charged, but treacherous to answer honestly.

Voting for McCain is voting for pain. Voting for Osama is voting for the USSA.

Voting for someone else you believe in is wholly American, and does neither hurt or help the campaigns, because face it - if they don't deserve the vote they should not get the vote.

When Ross Perot ran, people said he gave Clinton the office. However his votes came from 49% republican, and 49% democrat (with a +-2% margin of error for other independents. The system would work if we, the people, made it work. Don't abstain, but vote for someone not in the common pool of the bi-party system. If you want to write-in a vote for Paul, go right ahead. It is what I plan to do, regardless if he is on the ballot. If they say I cannot, I will say **** you and still send it in that way.

Nearly 1 hour of Ron Paul, VERY NICE!

@ the FFF Conference just last week IIRC.

It's all in a tidy YouTube playlist

    http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=3B2E946FEAE83519

Click PLAY ALL VIDEOS on the right hand side.

Lots on AIPAC, Israel and the future of the movement. Pretty cool.

Re: the wheelchair vet getting booed (up thread). He wasn't in a wheelchair, but he announced himself as a disabled vet, and then was promptly booed when he criticized foreign policy iirc. Gotta love those patriotic Americans who love their troops.

Just wanted to be clear on that.

    OK.

Join Ron Paul and his other supporters for an ice-cream Freedom Rally of great importance, in the Hilton America's Grand Ballroom, 1600 Lamar, Houston, Texas 77010, adjacent to the Texas state GOP (pronounced gopp) convention, from 9:00 - 11:00 PM on Thursday June 12. If you live within driving distance, do your best to be there.

    --------

Ron Paul announces on FOX that he is going to have his own Convention during the RNC!
