He everybody I got my first site up and running. Thanks to all the help and advice on the forum. Jason at BlogStartClub.com was/is a huge help. Huge Huge Huge!!!!!!!!!! Thanks dude. If anyone wants to look it over and provide me with usable feed back. Its nice to get opinions from people in the biz. I am still making changes Like I am gonna figure out how to get a custom header and logo ect. Thanks in advance http://gillywacker.com/ Sincerely Bryan
I'll take a plug at some useful feedback. Choose a darker text for the body, so folks don't have to strain to see it. Larger font would be good too. I hope the "Poop" talk is just you not knowing what to post about, and that you plan to put some real content up there. Most people won't stick around to read a bunch of "crap"! If you have some spare change, buy a Genesis Framework license. They have free themes too, with lots of cool tools that make changes like the header, footer, and widget areas a breeze. Not to mention that you'll be protected when it comes time to do updates on the site (Google about Parent/Child themes and the dangers of updating without using them.)
Will do. I will look that up when I am done here. I do appreciate the honest feedback. A lot of the people who have read my stuff are friends or family so far. Not very critical. Thanks again Bryan
over all the website is clean but your navigation bar, it will be great if you can minimize the height of it
OK. I also had a friend who could not navigate on his smart phone. So yeah I need the do some changes there Thanks Bryan
The layout is workable, i would also recommend bigger and darker text. The navigation bar needs a lot of work, maybe a different style or something. Work on that header and logo as well.
I agree with others, bigger or at least darker text. I also feel there is a lot of white space on the left hand side that could be used for something. Also the navigation bar at the top is partially covering GillyWacker. Using Google Chrome is that helps.
A great niche site...and probably greatly appreciated by parents of autistic kids. My bandwidth is nothing to brag about and the slider images on all the pages took forever to load...maybe check on the size of those for compression purposes. Home: The text is a bit difficult to read...add some weight to it or switch over to a more web-friendly font. It wouldn't hurt to put the text into two columns with each sentence on a line of its own so it isn't so run together. Header needs some work...get the navs centered vertically and/or narrow it. Blog / Funny Sad / Getting Real: Fonts need to be stronger..difficult to read...maybe consider a slightly gray background. White in sections is easier to contend with than large chunks of it. It seems like there could be a greater sense of division on the page - the 1st article just seems to run on and on and there's no defining declaration between it and the next topic. Might want to include a "Top of Page" link at the bottom of the page or navs in the footer. Great beginning effort on your part. Good luck.
I am going to make the revisions today. Some of the stuff is a little harder for me to change in WP than expected. I did change the text to black. Still trying to figure out how to change the font size. Also have not had luck figuring out how to change the menu/header size. Glad you mentioned that about the load times. I just thought the might be my computer. I will hopefully get revisions done today. I will let you all know. Thanks Again Sincerely Bryan
Ok my peeps. Made some significant revisions. Still polishing. I am open to suggestions about both the site and the content. Thanks for the help
