Interesting blog, but no evidence provided to support your theories.

This same topic is covered 2 or 3 times a week, I refuse to believe the 'sky is falling'.

It is google who has to worry not us :) , If they make a change we'll evoluate with our directories , directories will built camouflage and will look like ordinary websites instead of pages with all links (some kind of article directory).
Don't worry we are the web and changes does not happen that quick cause ordinary people are slower than us :)

    Good point!

IN 5-10 years I expect rapid changes in Search Engines and methodolgy

And also the directories are human edited so in 5-10 years even some directories may have more than 1,00,000 websites of quality content

So there will be general change in users methodology to gain more information!

I agree on your point of Oversaturation of Information, referred to below article in arstechnica, it is the time for computer to learn how to forget things as humans always have otherwise there would be an explosion of information. arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070509-escaping-the-data-panopticon-teaching-computers-to-forget.html

there are 2 different kinds of directories being discussed here. Niche directories and the more general ones. The general point is that general directories are in for some tough times unlesss they adapt. Can they adapt? How should they? (the general ones, the niche ones already do)

I'd say go to your godaddy account and renew it as it redirected to a holding page when I looked with this message.
