I noticed a lot of guests here at DP and it looks like some sort of automated traffic bot hiding as guests to me. Someone is doing something to destroy forums and collect URL's or to drop porno URL's into referral logs, they are doing it to me in the last week where I have seen a lot of referrals from porno sites coming from ringtone sources. Anyone know what this is? I did find that I could not access DP for 15 minutes or so today before this post.
Apparently its that worm... but that was already mentioned in another thread It was also mentioned that Shawn blocked it use mod_rewrite I dunno why I am posting this.. everything I said was already said in the other thread *shurg* Yes, I will shutup now. Josh
Hey Josh, we need your help, don't worry about ever posting too much, you are one of the few folks around that knows what he is talking about. Let if fly man, just not two in a row unless you have to. OK man?
lol.. you mean I am one of the few folks here who doesn't know what he is talking about But ya, back on topic, I had kind of expected a worm to be wrote before long, ever since I found out about (and figured out how to exploit using php) the security hole. Its really scary, just a few lines of code I had to write, and I had full shell acess to any server running phpBB. And in case you are wondering, no, I am not a 'hacker'/'cracker', I am just interested in network security, I do hack my friends sometimes, but I never deface websites Josh
OK mini Shawn, we will not mess with you, just try to stay on your good side. And don't send your big brother Shawn after me, OK PS: Shawn hasn't made you an administrator yet? Go figure? Well he has been busy trying to ward off these hackers, maybe tomorrow Josh...
Do you have a choice Payout? We have to like Shawn and Josh Technical information on this worm that is sending traffic to forums is in the link below. http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=250093
Here we go again with the bot traffic, we now have 196 guests visiting the "General Chat" forum. I just checked "who's online" and it seems that all of these visitors are the Yahoo spider. I hope that is the case.
Usualy it is, bots dont accept cookies, so it looks like to the forum, every time they view a page, they are another user, another guest actually... Josh
Yes Josh, you no doubt have used the menu bar drop down "Quick Links" here and viewed "who's online". When I seen 196 viewers in General Chat I thought it was those worm bots again, but when I looked it showed all those slots filled by Yahoo spider. I have never seen that many Yahoo spider slots at one time here before, but I did start a thread on the Yahoo spider going crazy on Digital Point a week or so ago. See it below. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=6102&page=3&pp=10
