What do you all think of ROBOT SUITS?? I've been reading about robot suits and other cybernetic suit technologies in the news recently. I am almost certain this is something that will take the world by storm within the coming years and become part of everyday living. I bought a domain name and am going to make a site that reviews all of the different types of suits on the market and in development, www.BOTsuits.com. I currently have videos for 9 different types of suits in development posted, check 'em out! These suits are cool, IMO. And even though most of them are being developed for people with movement disabilities and the military, I think they will hit the mainstream market quickly, might even be like a new form of transportation or something. There are even musical bot suits, I have a video of one on the site. Here is a picture of what is probably the most developed, ready to sell, BOT suit today, the HAL5. This suit is being mass produced this year, (400 units), and sold in Japan. Next year they plan to sell in the EU and after that the WORLD.. lol One interesting point about the HAL5 is that it is being produced by a company in Japan called Cyberdyne. The inventor and owner of the company is a big scifi buff, I wonder if he named his compnay after the company responsible for the Terminator on the movie on purpose? lol What do you think of these? Do you want one.. LOL I do! GG
I think it will be mainstream or not depend on people demand. If it is useful and price is low enough as Laptop, it will be one of the most popular inventory in this centuary.
I think it is feasible if it would improve the everyday life of people with disabilities especially if it will help them long term (will only be used during therapy sessions)
The Rewalk botsuit that was made in Isreal is already being used by a man who has been paralized from the waist down, unable to walk, for the past 20 years. He can now walk and get around on his own... practically a miracle.
Apparently 400 units of the HAL5 in Japan is going to be sold this year somewhere in the range of $4,000-$10,000 each, which really doesnt seem like too much at all.
For many things. It helps the elderly and crippled or paralized get around and walk. It makes it easier for construction and other physical jobs to be carried out. It is good for defensive military uses and even entertainment and transportation. The uses are really endless.
I want to know what this company had in mind when designing this suit. it looks really weired. We need robots to look like men not men to look like robots!
Im not sure what the company was thinking considering the company name itself is Cyberdyne (Terminator Movies) and the suit is called the HAL5, (2001: A Space Odyssey Movie)..
Has anyone noticed all the Bot suits in Hollywood lately. Iron Man: I saw them in District 9: GI Joe: And the upcoming movie: Avatar:
Ohh, And we can't forget about Sigourney Weaver in Aliens: Can anyone think of anymore, I'm going to post them all on my Robotic Suits site If you know of a Bot suit in hollywood, please post if for me, thanks!
I think there was a Mech Warrior movie at some point, I'm gonna try to find it. That would be a BotSuit too
