every couple days i get a (robot sent?) email info request from my website to me, the webmaster. its a form for the typical website, contact us, send a message etc. here is a typical email: Message: fabrik_internal_id : time_date : 2008-11-16 last name : 1997 first name : fqiczahotw address 1 : xCaiqjyRWv address 2 : JUNyZndaM city : xAioWqkfCt state : CA city : jQgyzXtayHuEloXXq all the fields on the form are filled in. just wondering what it might be? search engine robot? filling out a form for info, i'm having a hard time figuring what value or purpose this would be for a search engine robot? a hack probing attempt just to see if its a valid email and/or something else to prepare a hack attempt? an email spammer probe to get a list of valid email addresses? or something else? bob
thanks for the help, i see it all the time, now finally i know its captcha. after checking out some scripts i see there are php, java, etc. since it looks like a simple script, why would you not use java and have that short client/browser side processing as opposed to sending the form round trip to the server with all that time and overhead? i suppose it would only be 1 necessary anyway trip to server if the captcha response was ok. bob
