Of course they killed and ate. They are lions, after all. But you completely missed the point. There have been "outbreaks" of increased activity like this in Lions in this specific region where the numbers of humans killed by lions rises with no apparent reason. There is no particular rise in the number of lions or humans, yet the number of deaths between lion and human explodes for a short while. Just because a lion killed and ate a human does not mean that eating was the reason for killing. How do you explain the sudden increase?
tesla, At last someone with similar interest as me You wrote some very interesting points. I am myself writing future sci-fi together with philosophy. Have you read Asimovs books? You must have ... I think it's sad that they made such a shitty movie out of his work. Anyway... tesla, when do you estimate robots/androids will function pretty much the same as a man?
That lie was formulated by Wilhelm Wundth, falsely based from Darwins work. That lie then made grounds in the field of psychiatry/psychology which made it easier for the Nazi regime to kill humans as they are all animals anyway. This false lie has then spread and infected the major part of the western civilization on earth and is one of the reasons for the decline in awareness and responsibility of the western world ...
ccole1968, you missed my point entirely. The central point I'm trying to make is that "humans are the only species on the planet that are capable of bringing about their own destruction." Lions won't make themselves extinct, even if they do kill humans just to kill them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've never heard of any species of animals making themselves extinct. If somone has an example please share it with me. I'm going to answer that question based on the research of Michio Kaku, Ray Kurzweil, and Hans Moravec. At the current growth rate of technology machines are expected to become sentient by the year 2050. Exactly when they will function like a man I'm not sure. They may never. Robots will be a different lifeform, even once they become sentient. I expect that humans will fully merge with machines by 2100. Good point Jim. You've clearly done your homework and understand history/science. Humans are distinctly different from animals in the sense that we are exceptionally intelligent and do not seem to live in equilibrium with our environment. We are clearly the only species on the planet capable of killing ourselves. Nazis and Social Darwinists abused this. My family told me the same thing. I'm not totally sure. I think Charles Darwin may have very well realized that there is no way that humans came into existence out of chance. Yet most scientists today believe in evolution. Evolution has its problems to. I personally think Intelligent design and evolution can coexist together. Most scientists scoff at intelligent design because it cannot be proven or disproven. But just because it can't be proven doesn't make it not true. Both Scientists and Religious people tend to be closed minded. My Grandmother refuses to believe in evolution, while most scientists refuse to believe in intelligent design. What if someone or something "intelligently designed" us using "evolution?"
WRONG. Lions kills cubs from other prides so as to wipe out competition, black widow spiders kill their husbands after sex and there are many more examples of where animals kill for reasons other than direct survival.
Oh, This is a thread back from 2005, lucky to a person who resurrect it, any way I wonder if they can create a real Robot, I love to see that and I can wait about it.
