rip vs. copy? whats the difference?

    you can rip through i copy and can also copy a rip. :confused:

    According to the Free Dictionary, rip means CD to MP3 conversion, and has the connotation of "ripping off" the music industry.

    Well it still means stealing while copy can mean copy open source, nobody says that they ripped off a linux kernel version etc..

    This is how I define each:

    Rip - to actual take parts of a website and use them, e.g save a picture to your computer or screenshot a site and copy and paste.
    Copy - To copy the idea/layout/parts but recreate them yourself. Not as bad as ripping, but still unacceptable.

    Hmmm i always thought that the copy is identical to the original product and a rip is the original product in a different shape/format/type.

    i though copy mean "burn cd on the fly"
    and rip mean copy to you harddrive then burn it
    seems like i am wrong
