hi guys, i used to own a domain which i left and it expired..

some guy/company purchased it and put the standard packed "this domain may be for sale" page there.. I contacted them about how much the domain would be and they sent back stating the domain is $3000,

How can they possibly charge that much for a domain that originally cost me £9

unfortunately thats their choice to charge you whatever you want. do you think that domain worth $3k im sure not. my best advice is probably to move on and find a different domain.

    Good luck

well it expires on feb 28th 2011 and they dont appear to have done anything with it so im assuming that it will expire without them renewing it..

fingers crossed, i may be able to get it back.

any advice on using things like network solutions backtrack, eNom ect..

Remember, a lot of people and companies wait until the last day to renew.
    Or they use auto renew.
So a domain will say it is dropping on a certain date, but until then the present owner can renew.

I would just move on, but if the name is really that important to you then you can always make an offer....

it's the domain business that many guys and companies make millions each year from.
from your description, the domain is priceless.
the new owner can price how much he/she want, but no one will buy it fro $3K anyway.
