I have recently been informed that one of my favorite DP members, Dan Schulz, passed away at his home last night. Dan had been sick with pneumonia and apparently he died from a blood clot that was a complication of the pneumonia. Dan has been a member here since 2006, and was highly regarded for his knowledge on various topics and his willingness to help all that had questions. Dan was also an Advisor on Sitepoint, and one of the admins of the SEO.com forum. Thank you Dan for your contributions to DigitalPoint, but most of all, thank you for being my friend.
Will miss you, Dan! One of the biggest Chicago Bears fan I'd ever come across. It's really unbelievable!
that is truly very very sad news Rest in Peace Reunited with your mum and all the other great seo and dp contributors that have blessed us with their presense I might not have know him personally but saw the posts around a real reminder that life is short - live it to the full and enjoy it while you can people I will now observe a 1 min period of silence from typing on my keyboard here as mark of respect...
Now his useful signatures won't appear... he had a nice thread showing people how to do PHP includes even if they didn't really know PHP. Could that be stickied somewhere, maybe programming or HTML forums?
Like probably most others, I didn't have the opportunity to speak with Dan more than a couple of times outside of DP. However, I enjoyed reading his very informative posts and added him to my friends list a few weeks back. The guy knew his stuff and it's a huge loss to this community. Obviously, the bigger loss is to his closer friends and family, and I will keep them in my prayers over the next few weeks as they go through a very trying time.
RIP, Dan. You're with your mum now. I saw his blog post a while back about his mother passing away. Truly saddening.
I was stunned when I heard he had passed away. I feel like my life is only starting and I'm only a few years younger then Dan, it's not fair. Why is it that the most genuinely nice people get taken away from us first? The DP SEO forums won't be the same without him. RIP Yeah, one of the first things I thought about when I heard the news
This is really a shocking news. He died at an age of 30. God had taken him at such a young age. I don't know Dan very well, but had read a couple of his threads/posts before. He is an asset to this forum and this is a great loss indeed. RIP Dan. - Dynashox -
All I can say is that I'm sorry not to have known him better, he sounded like an amazing person and may he rest in peace.
I think the thread you're talking about was on sitepoint, but this is one that I definitely believe should be stickied in his honor: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=413544
