I was just wondering what are the benefits of having a Right Hand Navigation of Blogs? It just seems like all blogs seem to opt for this, but I don't understand why?

Do you mean the category view? I put it there simply because others do. Most people are accustomed to looking for it on the right, probably because they'll read an article first, then (being a left to right reading culture) scan to the right to pick up any other info.

So do most people put their navigation on the right because the wordpress default is that way, or because there is some SEO or other benefit? or what?

I dunno it just makes no sense that traditionally sites have their navigation on the left then blogging comes along and the default blogging navigation is placed on the right - surely there is a logically reason for it.

All depends on what you want your readers to see first. Content on your blog or adsense ads and links.

Most people look to top left first when loading up a site.

So you think the design change has just been implemented to get people to look at the first article of a site first???

No benefit on the left or right.

The main focus point should be the content, and then the navigation. I had my navigation on the left and I found it difficult to navigate, don't ask me why but I seem to find stuff easier and always look to the right [maybe because I'm right handed?! ha]

Yeah, I think it's sometimes prettier on the left. Navigations on websites are often on the left.

I am not SEO expert. I just read it somewhere that if your content is in the left side of the page then it will be more exposed to the search engines.

You can put your content on the left side and move it to the right with proper css formating, it will create the same effect for spiders ;)
