Ridiculously Priced Keywords Claims

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by Sushi_Master, Nov 27, 2005.

    Hello to all.

I'm sure this topic must have been discussed before. There are a lot of webistes claiming they have knowledge of keywords that are paying incredibly large amounts of money such as $50.

I'm definately a sceptic for obvious reasons. I just want to know if anyone has ever signed up with such websites for keyword information. Is there any truth in their claims?

Do you have some money to draw out the window? then try it
Sometimes there are bidders with $50.00 plus, but they don't last long and are not in the same keyword category, because thats always changing. A couple of days at its best, then their budget is finished.

I think being in the 0.50 - 1.00 USD range is nice as long as you have enough traffic. Besides, in this range the ads lasts untill the end of the month, and people keeps advertising. Just my 5 cents..

Sometimes there are significant paying keywords for Adsense ... just don't expect them to appear on your site unless you are a) established b) highly targeted c) have the right type of traffic

Yeah, sometimes a click gets through that's worth a few dollars but anyone running PPC campaigns won't leave those running for long.

    Some good points there.

I can understand some companies like solicitors might have a sudden strike for a particular keyword and paying large amounts knowing they can earn potentially thousands from the customers.

Is there any genuine tools you can use to view potentially high paying keywords or see actual prices people are paying for adsense ads?

Somebody posted a really good site here a few weeks ago that scraped adsense for the top thousand or something keywords, I have it bookmarked on another computer and I'll try to remember to post it tomorrow. The best thing to do in my opinion is go use overture, it's got a max bids option when you search that will show you what people are bidding for their keywords there. I've found that it correlates pretty closely to adsense - you'll get roughly 60-70% of the top bids there assuming overture shows 3-4 bidders in the same price range (i.e., not 10 bids for .10 and one guy bidding $4.00).

    Thanks Kneukm03 that a great page :D

Don't you find it strange that the keyword "domains yahoo" is so high? I can't imagine why anyone would pay so much for that  I'm sure there must be a perfectly good explanation.

No doubt there are advertisers who are paying $50+ CPC but remember
"Google eats money" it will never display these high paying ads in content network until unless budget is still enough to utilize.

It took me a minute to work out what Nokia999 was saying, but I think the general idea is that if someone puts in a high bid, Google displays those ads on its own site and keeps all the money, and we uusally only get lower value ads on AdSense.
