Ridiculous problem, I don't get it

I am new to google adwords and having a very big and frustrating problem.

I set up two ad groups to promote two different products. Each has totally different keywords associated.

Google isn't running my ads because it says this:

    * Only one ad per display URL may be shown for a single search query. If two or more ads with the same display URL are eligible to show, we'll display the ad with the higher ad rank. Ad rank is determined by a combination of your bid (price) and Quality Score (performance). The higher your ad's rank is, the more relevant your ad is likely to be to users.

Firstly, I didn't have more than one ad per display URL in my entire account.

So I deleted one of the ad groups, leaving me with one ad group. Then I took out every single keyword but one. I have only one single ad in my whole account, with one single keyword, and I am still getting that message that my ad won't run.

I don't understand why it is telling me that. It doesn't make any sense.

When do an ads diagnostic on my ad, I get this message.
"Your ad shares a similar Display URL with a competing, higher ranking ad."

    What does this mean?
Only one ad per display URL may be shown for a single search query. If two or more ads with the same display URL are eligible to show, we'll display the ad with the higher ad rank. Ad rank is determined by a combination of your bid (price) and Quality Score (performance). The higher your ad's rank is, the more relevant your ad is likely to be to users.
    What can I do?
You may consider further refining your ad text and keywords, and/or increasing your bid to help improve your ad's ranking.

But I only have one ad in my account?! What is going on here?

Can someone please help me understand what the problem is?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am either a complete idiot....or something.

    Thanks

Somebody else has the same url. Presumably this is for an affiliate deal. They will only show one ad going to the same sales page. Somone else is bidding more than you so yours won't show.

now that makes sense....like common sense......you would think I could figure that out on my own, thanks guys....

my quality score on my ad is only 7/10 though...I have the keyword in my title, one line of the ad, and in the display URL, any idea why it would only be 7/10?

eh google QS is a mystery to us all lol

I dont think 7 is bad to begin with but still there are a number of things that could cause it to be at 7 instead of 10. One could be that it knows you're using the same url as other people, ctr history, or just the website itself.

If you are trying to do affiliate marketing you may want to look in to building a landing page. They can be a huge help for sales and QS.
