I spent 47 minutes today watching this free video I came across on the Rich Jerk site. I usually don't post my opinion about things but this really bothered me. This strategy involved posting a fake ad for a free pet on a classified site (really pulling on people's heartstrings regarding an animal that doesn't even exist) then harvesting the emails of the people who responded wanting this free animal and trying to sell them related pet merchandise -- even going as far as to say this "program" being sold was the program being used to train this animal that the owner cannot keep and it is in the best interest of the (non-existent) homeless pet to purchase this program. Basically, flat out fraud if you ask me. Disgusting. Yes, I know that the rich jerk is a jerk and that is his whole marketing ploy, but this is FRAUD and it makes me mad that anyone would do this or profit from it. I'm sorry for the rant but I had to talk about this. The strategy itself seemed workable if fraud is not involved. I'm sure I'll get flamed or something but I really had to express my disgust about this. Angela H.
I haven't seen the video, but by what your telling, I don't want to see the video. His methods have always been rather well jerky but still, this seems to go over the line a bit. It's like a scam actually, making them believe they're getting a pet, selling them a program for it and then dissapearing with their money. Never liked the rich jerk actually, too full of himself. greetz, jobic
That sounds pretty crappy to me. I wonder if that's actually illegal? Seems as if it would be... Was it really "The Rich Jerk" who created this video or someone trying to sell the product (affiliate)?
Wow, his methods are worth his name... if thats the tactics he uses shame on him, its real "into the face" marketing
