Reworked public domain content and copyright

    I've been wondering about this for quite some time. If you take an image or article that is in the public domain, make various changes to it (basically enhance, update, recrop etc) it, can you then claim copyright on that enhanced/altered version?

    As a general statement, no, you cannot copyright something created from someone elses work. An article can be "inspired" from another piece of work, but would have to be completely rewritten.
