oiy... tolerance tolerance. Tolerance is a false ideal. Only tolerating good is good. We worship tolerance I swear. But tolerating evil is encouraging evil. You can forgive people who do evil, but never tolerate the evil action itself.

And in the never ending quest for taking over the world it's only going to get worse, imagine if they try and take over Iran?? The wheels will come off eventually.

One way of looking at it:

If you give a child access to a massive candy shop and tell him he can eat as much candy as he likes for free every day eventually his teeth will rot. :D

When looked at as a percentage of GDP, the deficit was not out of control. And as I said, the deficit is dropping. Due to growth of the economy. You do not need to tax your way out of the deficit. If government could keep spending under control, the deficit could go away on its own.

The deficit is not dropping. It dropped from 2004-2005 but it was still the 3rd highest deficit in US history.

The deficit needs to turn into a surplus before any progress is made. The deficit is just 1 years spending, the real issue is the $9-10Trillion debt.

Government spending is going to spike in around 3-4 years time, this is unavoidable.

I dont even know what you are trying to say. Just that things are going fine?

thank you for explaining the concept of positive and negative numbers ;)

    And sums. Its appreciated.

The deficit is about 3% of GDP, which is not that high. Its manageable. And going down.

It went down once, due to higher than expected tax revenues.

A predictions is a just prediction, the whitehouse predictions have always been overly optimistic. 2006 deficit is expected to be as bad as the last 3 years. We'll find out soon.

The whitehouse is the only body singing about a deficit going down. The reality is different.

Yes it looks the deficit should be v.close to $286B, so thats down 2 years in a row. But the problem remains.

The various ways to increase or reduce the deficit are a given, we don't need to debate them. I have never said the only way to reduce it is by raising taxes.

Given the current situation with the US economy it will take some very ingenious policies to reduce the debt burden without increasing taxes.

Yes, but its getting better. Which has been my point.

Govt has a lot of discretionary spending it can get away with. Raising taxes is the last thing politicians should look at. Cleaning their house is always the priority.

Its not getting better. Its getting worse but at a slower rate.

It will get alot worse in 2-3 years.

Now we really are nit-picking :)
Yes you are right spending cuts should be looked at first but when you have high military commitments and 78 millions baby-boomers about to stop working and begin drawing on social security and medicare - spending is going to soar.

Spending cuts are not an option at the moment.

Brum i just hope the green party doesnt succumb to big business like the democrats and republicans have, but in all reality no one from the green party will ever come close to being president and if he did, he would tow the line like a good little boy. I think kennedy was the last one with a mind of his own and look at him now. Also votes can be manipulated. Who is watching the people who tally these votes up??????????

It's better than the Nixon Gang being in office. (sorry I had to say that for AC because he is not logged in!)

It does. Ive heard many Americans saying the same thing. How do you know it does not change a thing if you do not even do it? Besides, it seems very unfair to complain when you do not even take a morning to vote. Not happy with any party and still want a change? Start one. Get people who think like you together and something could happen. You live in America, and you guys are so lucky for that. Appreciate your country and be part of the change you want. :)
