How do YOU use the meta tag "Revisit-after" and the sitemap.xml parameter "Frequency" ?

My site have aprox 70 pages: 20 product pages , 25 article pages and some other information only stuff.

I was using revisit-after as 1 DAY and Sitemap frequency 1 for all the pages.

But yet, Google takes 1 week to recrawl my site.

So I was thinking to myself.. Would it be a good idea to have 2 or 3 pages with a high frequency (1 DAY) and all the others with a lower frequency, like 15 or 30 DAYS ?

The revisit tag does not really do anything and is really only for some of the smaller search engines. Google will come and visit your site as often as they feel like.

exactly as banless said. google comes and goes any time it feel likes it.

I'm also trying to find ways to get my website cached more often by google, but...

    Good luck

It's a matter of links. If you have a page you would like cashed more often, get a few links pointing to the page. It looks more important therefore Google checks it more often.

Your 'changefreq' parameter in your sitemaps should be "daily" (not "1"), but only for those pages that really do change every day. Choose "weekly" or "monthly" for those pages that don't change very often. Set the 'priority' accordingly.

Make sure that your 'lastmod' dates are accurate too. See sitemaps website for details.
