Nice idea . I think it's working. Might be useful for many people.

 

Great idea if it works. It would be good if you could do a checker for other IM services aswell.

 

I'm not a fan of the white background because it makes the bar have an "invisible" look. Honestly, I don't think it would be a success because it's random, and personally I wouldn't use it. You never know though.
