Hey everyone, been lurking the threads for a couple days and have finally decided to post.

So i'm thinking about creating a product comparison website. I would list all the laptops and then on each page I would list the specs, pros, cons, etc.. This way people can browse laptops of different companies without having to search all over.

Problem: I don't know which program to use to create the website. I've used wordpress before and it's great but it seems like it's mainly suited for blogs. So i'm looking for something that I can use to create a product comparison website or review website.

I've heard of drupal, would this work?

    Any input is welcome,

    Thanks

i think first u need to check out if any site already does what u mentioned....lots of sites do this laptop review thing and they do it like for every laptop released. So, people already know where to get their information. What reason do they have to come to your site? Is it different, or are u a famous computer expert or something?

I think Joomla offers the best specs, it's user friendly and offers loads of extensions. First of all you have to find out about the competition, it's no use trying to fight yourself into a market full of established competitors.

As iit_m pointed out, there are going to be many, many sites that do something similar. The biggest name in that field is cnet.com. However, if you think you can create a truly unique site that has better data and some sort of draw over the others, then you can actually use the competition to your advantage. Go check out the source code of competitor sites and see what sort of systems they use. Even if it's a custom code, you can compare the features to other programs to see if it has all the required components. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, but I my product is not for laptops. It was just an example. Sorry for the miscommunication.
