Hello friends, We just launched our app http://www.twitpress.co It is a simple and minimal application which help us to extend the tweet beyond 140 characters. Actually it's a micro blog (in terms of features), where you can write a post (long tweet) with an optional title and cover photo. TP automatically prepare a tweet with excerpt of the post along with link back to the original post. If somebody click on the link in the tweet, they can view the full post. Also, we keep a blog with all posts under a twitter user name like http://www.twitpress.co/twitpressapp We kindly ask you to give it a try and post your feedback here.
I don't know what problem you website solves. I don't use twitter so I might be off base but couldn't a person just post a link to an external blog/website if they wanted to post more than 140 characters.
Sorry, if you already have a blog/ site, Twitpress(TP) might not be useful. This service aimed for people who 1, Don't have a blog/site yet. 2, Don't wish to remember new username/ password for a new service. 3, Having difficulty in following initial on boarding process of a new blogging platform. 4, Like to have a simple and minimal web application for writing, managing and publishing posts.
I understand now. The only problem is how would you even monetize the app? If you are looking to charge people for using the service, it wouldn't work because there are already free solutions. Even monetizing with ads would still be ineffective. I think if people are going to publish long post they would use Facebook or some free web 2.0 blog host. People who use Twitter do so because it is quick and easy. It is kind of like a microwave and regular oven. When someone wants a quick meal they use the microwave. When someone wants something more delicious they cook it in the oven. Why would I want a microwave the cooks in the same amount of time it would cook in a stove? I know this might be a poor analogy. But, my point is you are solving a problem that people who are using the product don't have.
>> If you are looking to charge people for using the service, it wouldn't work because there are already free solutions. I was thinking about Freemium model pricing for the service. At this point, TP is a MVP.
Well the that is good. The best advice you can get is from your market. If you can't give it away for free then you don't have a chance of selling it. Personally I think something like this could be marketable if you are choose a different market. Instead of using twitter. Why don't you create an app and market it to people who as you put it: 1. Don't have a blog/site yet. 2. Don't wish to remember new username/ password for a new service. 3. Having difficulty in following initial on boarding process of a new blogging platform. 4. Like to have a simple and minimal web application for writing, managing and publishing posts.
I signed up to something similar years ago when I was still getting used to twitter. I quickly learnt that it was better to keep it brief than be sending readers away from twitter to another site. I took a look at your site and would recommend that you give some examples, or a clear way to get examples so that people who don't want to authorise you straight away can gain confidence.
Thanks for your suggestion. I hope http://www.twitpress.co/tour page will do the task. Tour button is shown next to Twitter sign in button in the home page.
