Hi, I wanted to see some reactions to my site, so I posted it here in site showcase. Website URL: http://tripledoublegames.com Three specific areas of my site that I'd like feedback on: - design - graphics, especially colors - and most important: loading speed What would you change on this site and why? All suggestions are welcome, thanks.
loading speed: fairly slow (18.96 seconds for me) I like the design, but add a good graphic header...
OMG 42 seconds. OK - I am in the UK (On 10Mb Broadband) - I guess that because you are on a free host and there are 621 different sites on your server - it is a bit slow. Your front page is about 900k - almost 1Mb. Add to that the 16 or so Graphic Ads you have on the site and the site counter... It will be slow. Do you make a lot of money from your ads? Do you need so many? Do you need them all over the front page that people really want to load fast to see what you have? Just in case anyone is thinking I am anti-Ads I am not in anyway. I love money. Just that people need to know when they have something worthwhile to start dragging revenue from. I personally don't consider this to be 'a design'. Just some boxes with a logo at the top left. Most of your game images are 24bit PNGs - 20k or so - you could easily take them down to a 6-8k jpg or gif without losing quality (optimise). I did a reload of your second page http://tripledoublegames.com//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=28 That took about 30 seconds. If you want/would like - I could quickly optimize all your graphics and upload the page (i can download it directly) on one of my hosts for comparison. Sorry for being so critical. I hope you don't mind - But I had a quick try at optimizing the graphics - I underestimated - you could get the graphics down to 4-5k JPGs easily without loss of quality. You may lose a bit of the reds but you could fine tune those. Onward and upwards Steve Dorrington (AKA CarpetDog)
decent design, but when I think of tripledouble I think of basketball...when a player gets double figures in 3 categories... The header needs to be centered and placed better for it to be taken seriously. Right now I think a lot of visitors might not even look at the games if something as basic as the header isn't positioned well.
Design okay, like the colours but header a bit boring and needs some work. Loading time not the quickest.
Thanks you all for replies! @SecretDownload: Thank for your advice, I took it All images are now transformed into jpeg images, which are about 5 times smaller than png images and home page size is now reduced for about 350K thanks to You. Hope that this will increase loading speed. Also, i reduced the number of flash games banner exchange sites, and counting only 2. Also I am considering adding textual links instead of small banner links to partner sites. @Adaykin: Triple Double is a commonly accepted basketball term, but it also represents something or somebody that has outstanding scores, just like flash gamer has when he plays games @infopeek: Yes, header is very bad, but I will work on it when i get some time...
