Well I wouldn't say too much content on your homepage but maybe use the "Insert More Tag" to cut off some of your very long post. I also noticed as far as your design at the top this image: Goes into your line which doesn't look good at all. Maybe try moving the line down a little or resizing the image. Besides that I love. If you get a chance review my sports blog.
The design is not bad but I think you should fix the header so the line does not go through the basketball.

Maybe you could turn your sidebar into a 1-column sidebar, so that you would have a bit more width for the content in your posts. The search bar at the top comes out nicely. The poll feature is an applicable way to keep in indirect communication with your readers.
The layout and design looks cool .But the line on header goes through the basketball image in all of my browsers(opera,IE 7,FF).It would be appreciatable if you resolve it.Thanks.
