The forums are about 1.5 years old! It’s been extremely hard to get going! I have been trying different promotional strategies but it seems we end up coming to a stand still.

Any ideas or suggestions on what I can do to help the community grow and remain active?

Should I remove some forums? Should I add some forums?

Do you see anything I could be missing?

    Perhaps I’m trying to hard?

    Thanks,

    Brian

ill suggest you to go with a better design, this seems to be default
make the forum look more better, also if you feel traffic will come despite of all graphic efforts and software, just give your best effort, as long as your websites has lot of members and regular people in spending can be done at a later stage with update of skin and paid forum software.

Alright I will take your theme suggestions into consideration!

As for the paid forums software I don't think that matters much!

Is that a chat box above the forum? I found it quite annoying when I was looking for the actual forums. I would remove that.

Perhaps I could move it into the footer?

    I guess that's a matter of opinion...

    Brian,

I would look to consolidate any of the topics that can be inter-related (possible example, consolidate link sales and advertising/income). Grouping many of the similar topic areas could help to make the forum not "appear" so empty.

Its similar to that of a large night club - no one shows up until there's a line-up outside. The line-up creates the illusion that the place is busier and more "happening" than it actually is. In reality, we know that the local pub down the block is where the action is in the early evening. And when we walk inside either one of them, the club is bigger and empty looking, yet the pub with the exact same number of people in it looks really busy because it is smaller.

As your traffic grows, you can get away with expanding or separating into more specific areas, but for now, with 251 members, I would go with 4-5 main topic areas, and utilize more subtopics to carve out individual forum nitches. Hope that helps you out!

    Few from my suggestions:
    1. you need a good theme.
    2. you need more traffic, maybe can do link exchange with other admins forum
    3. do more addons like game arcade, contest on site to attract more visitors
