Review of Social Forum

I am looking for a couple of reviews of my forums, the layout, the choice of forums, everything (except for lack of activity).
I will be using this to help me fix any problems which might be stopping people from joining.

I like the header and the logos next to the forums. One gripe I have is that the page is too narrow. Maybe if you were to widen it a bit, it would look more like a real forum.

The only way you can start getting people to join is by having posts for them to read. But your off to a good start.

 

I might consider making a new logo anyway, one which suits a bit more.
It says 'motiveight' but yeah, i see the problem..

umarfarooq; on my site? You need to register, then you go to the forum you want to open and click "new topic". Guests cannot post (or at least shouldn't be able to).


themanbeast9; thank you. How would I go about getting posts however, if it takes posts to get posts, there is a problem; where does it begin? I've noticed that if you have to many threads saying that I was the last person to post in it, people will notice that its very inactive and not want to join.
Are you saying I should do one of those "pay for posts" things?

 

I like the header of the site but I think the logo could be better, and I think you should
consider adding more categories to the site.

 

I prefer concision, as I've seen websites before which have too many Categories.
Especially when a forum is new, having too many categories makes the site look even emptier than it really is.
As the site grows I'll add more Categories.

Sadly, no I didn't design the skin. I'm planning on learning how to make skins, I have enough graphic design knowledge for the graphics so I eventually my own skins will be used... but not right now.

 

I've gained QUITE alot more activity and a few more users now...
I've added a forum and I've added a few more things...
I shall be modding it soon too.



Any feedback? Suggestions? etc?

 

I love the header part.
The background color is little irritating for eyes.

I think you have so much idle spaces in all the four sides of the page. The idle spaces' color is too dark and heavy for the eyes. Because of this, guests who visit the page do not seem to be attracted to explore the site and join. <Just my opinion..>

 

It appears though that most phpbb3 themes use the width of 800 for accessibility regardless that most people use at least resolutions of 1024x768.
Though I'll get in contact with the creator of the theme (wasn't me, sadly) and see if they can create a wider version.

Though, I am thinking of changing to a cleaner theme.

Any other suggestions?

 

Nice looking site but i think the dark blue boarders are a little harsh on the eyes

 

design, color, layout is ok. the things that u need consider is the header and the header background. not so good.

 

Ok, I'm testing out a new theme, this one is a bit lighter, less blank space. Will go public soon.

Now, off the topic off themes, what can be done to improve the site..? Features.. etc?

 

Like the logo.. it just needs to be 3x bigger being the only thing on the header..

The theme has changed, thus the logo has been changed with it.
