I'd like to know what you think of my latest website. It's been up less than a day (so mind the lack of activity), its highly modified and I'm wondering what can be done to the content, etc, to make it better? I'll be adding some custom pages to it soon, so custom content will not be an issue soon enough. I'll be advertising more, so soon enough activity will be better. What do you think about it? Does the theme not suit it? Does the logo not work with it? Does it need to be changed? Should I re-size some things on the portal? What do you think? G'day MotiveighT At first glance the title in your header appears to be a bit small. You need to make it bigger and easier to read for branding purposes and so people can remember what your site is called and tell their freinds. I went to your site, and spent a couple of minutes looking at it, but i struggled to work out exactly what your site is all about. Is it about you posting information for readers, or is it about a gaming forum? Put a poll there or remove the section until you get a poll. In saying that though, your site looks like it has been very well designed, it has a good color scheme and looks professional. Good stuff. Cheers Jake
Hi MotiveighT, Like Jake said, you need to make the header big and try to write it in capitals. (at least the first letters). Man, there are too many tables in there. Remove the calendar and clock. Why do you need it, anyway? And why do you need 2 search boxes. One is already at the top. There is even a link (so that makes it 3). Also, the wordgraph section is not much useful. If you remove all these unwanted things your forum will look less congested. On the brighter side, your design is amazing. Fits well with the theme. Also, your page is different from other Forum boards. It sure looks professional. Bye Sumit.
I agree with the suggestions of Jake Howard and Simboy, the site does not look like a gaming site I think you should get a different theme, use a different color scheme and you need some graphics to make it look more attractive.
Well, perhaps. But it's a gaming "forum" and the theme is just meant to be easy on the eyes. Once you get into the forum (i dunno if any of you did), you'll see its all about games. I'll be adding some custom pages up soon which will make it more 'gaming' oriented, I'll also be fixing the logo tonight or tomorrow to make it larger, more readable and a little bit.. better. There's not much I can do with the portal to make it more 'gaming' like. Unless you have another suggestion? I don't want to use an overly stylized theme for my site as usually forums with complex themes fail completely. Jake Howard; Did you look at the main page only, or the forum as well? The main page was a bit bare yesterday, but if you looked at the forum you'll see its all a place for people to come and discuss games and gaming in general. Simboy; I'll be removing the calendar and clock I agree with you on that. The wordgraph i'll keep as it doesn't take up too much space and it'll spiders find things people are talking about a little better (i think) lol.
Nice site but as previously suggested doesnt really resemble a gaming site. Try different colours and add some images perhaps.
i don't see how it doesn't resemble a gaming forum though... most gaming forums don't have the portal, and thus have no need for 'pictures' all over it. also, what colors suit a gaming site? Most gaming sites I've seen use shitty colors which make them look unprofessional and cheap.
I hate to be brutally honest, but you are using a pre-made template for phpbb so it's nothing really special.
That's not brutally honest, that's just painfully obvious. At least I'm not using the default theme, and at least its not unmodded. I've modified the site a fair amount, and I'm not using the standard theme. I don't see the point of your comment, however. No offense. What's wrong with using a pre-made theme? I'm not a skinner, and I don't have the available cash (being a student) to hire one.
Mistakes are there that become immediately apparent. Urgent Logo Makeover. Remove the RED background of the disclaimer. It is stealing all the attention. Add a review area where you can add custom reviews of games and such. Your site has a very neat design. This is very crucial and don’t change that for a web 2.0 effect.
Ahh. I'll redo the logo soon. It's sorta temporary right now anyway. What color would you recommend for the disclaimer? Though, I think that because its at the bottom of the page, it doesn't really matter. Unless your resolution is GIANT you'd rarely see it unless you scroll down. But i'll see what i can do. The review area, etc, I was thinking of something like that. I am currently working on custom page anyway Thanks for the input.
