Nice clean look. However, are you considering narrow your category down to a more specific topic? I just wonder how you're going to distinguish your site as it seems to be too general now...

Getting the people to sign up is easy. Keeping them on your site is another story! The design is good. I hope you can promote it. General stuffs are very hard to promote!
You have a good site but i find it a liitle dull. You can add colors and pictures to it make it more lively.
To be honest I'm not sure about the idea of a general forum. Most people will visit a forum because it deals with their particular interest. Good luck anyway!

try some cont. color and promote it and create some more categories if your forum is general because in general there are many things to talk.. other things is ok go on...
