I know the site is not great. It's pretty crummy actually. I don't write very well but hey. Most of the stuff is silly. On the site i'm asking for donations to go towards a house and the site pretty much contains whatever I want to write about. I haven't gotten one donation in over 2 years but I did make $10US for selling a link once. Post whatever you want to about it my page. A blog is all about quality niche content, I would say this is pretty lacking (no offense), if of course you want to make money. Just write high quality content. I would also thin down on the cravings for donations.
In the last 4 years that my site located at www.DarcyLee.com has now evolved into a place where I post YouTube Videos of music that I like and have discovered. Some of it is mainstream popular, others are a bit more random with less views. I am keeping track of all the different music I like and listen to for more than a day so that in the future I will be able to come back to it. I now have 83 postings under Music. DarcyLee.com has been operating for about 7 years. I have 298 Posts overall as of April 14th 2013. The main topics that I focus on (apart from music videos) are around Virtual Reality the Matrix, Artificial Intelligence, Government involvement with these techs and everyday life, and I also post about things that occur to me daily and everything i've been upto, though all these posts are rare these days. I have also been asking for donations but have so far received nothing at all. I have made a little in advertising from the site but haven't quite reached the Google Adsense threshold payout limit of $100 US yet. I estimate it will take another year to hit the payout. I don't really have any high quality content, I write poorly, I recently lost my google ranking of www.darcylee.com from the first page of google for the search term Darcy Lee. That was sad. Google black balled me for some reason. I wonder if anyone would know why? So what do you suggest? What else could I do around the site? How do I get my ranking back for Darcy Lee? right and left sidebar make your website like full with unnecessary content...and make some people confuse and dizzy because that too crowded
Your Home page is so impossibly cluttered that if I was not visiting it for the purpose of reviewing it, I would have instantly clicked away from it. I feel that the "DONATE", "DONATE", "DONATE" button row is over-the-top and pushy. It tells me that the #1 purpose of your site is to make money for yourself, rather than be informative or helpful. Further, as a new visitor, why would I want to donate before I have even read the first word on your site? You should tone this down. After the DONATE buttons, as I scrolled down the page I saw a sea of text and pictures in no definable order. I would not have been able to find something specific I was interested in because I got lost in the maelstrom of clutter.
There is too much going on here. To begin with, the banner doesn't work and there are way too many "donate" buttons. The color scheme is very distracting and kind of glaring. Improvements would include removing unnecessary clutter, better organization and a background that is easier on the eyes.
