Okay, im currently a year 15 pupil at school, and i chose graphic design as a subject. We have to do a project on a local business and i chose a local computer store. In the project we have to design a number of things for the business: letter heads, logos, business cards,t-shirt designs, mugs, mousemats, websites etc. Here's the website design i created earlier: I dont have to make the site live so its just the design. I havent designed a final logo yet, but that will be added later. Suggestions on improvements would be greatful because i want to make another design showing improvement. Thanks.
n00b alert! Please disregard my amateur opinion, lol. I think the navbar should be under the banner because the banner is so thick it might be off the screen when trying to view the content below.
As i said, the website will not be published so technical issues wont be a problem, but i will try to move the nav bar underneath to see if it looks better. Thanks for the feedback
Make the headings smaller, about 14px. instead of just text add an image on the left and had text around it. and thats each column, and make the logo and actual logo Navigation font doesnt need to be huge.
Don't be such an ass man! Dude... the site is ok, and as others have said, some slight ajustments. Take a look at some other websites for research and take some ideas and recreate them. ~ Mike
I'm not sure, but I dont think that guy was being rude.... I think he was calling himself a Noob.... Thats why he said disreguard his "Amatuer" opinion. Here's my take on the design... The colors are easy on the eyes, however the proportioning is way too off. I'd recommend you put the navigation links directly under the header and left justify them. I'd also cut the header height right in half. And possibly think about adding a 3rd column to the design which could be used for category links, etc. However, make the 3rd column about half or 1/3 the size as the other 2 columns, and put it on the left side. Overall it's a good start.
Very basic and generic, but it will past for your project. The site is not going live, so you will be just fine. Look around the web for some designs of your interest. This can also help you make better decisions on the final design.
nice effort dude ..... but i agree that the header is too big ..and also design a gud logo overall its really Gud ! keep it up thanx Shery !
Haha, im getting a lot of comments on the banner, no need to mention it anymore guys, i realised i needed to change it the first 10 times I have started on a second design and im taking all of what you guys said into consideration, that was my first website design type thing so i wasn't really sure on what to do
Navigation: Try different fonts instead of the system fonts. The navigation items can be smaller in size. the Capital fonts can be small case Content Area: The headings are quite big you can make them smaller. Content fonts can be simple system sherif fonts. The content background can be simple instead of the silver gradient looking. The saprator between the header and the content can be more visible and without gradient. Footer: Use different color of the fonts to make it more visible, readability. Nice concept just need some touchups.
Nice fundamental web 2.0 base that just needs some punching up with accents (icons, graphical elements). As noted the header area is perhaps a little too big but I like it.
