Hi, im looking for idea's on how to improve my website, can anyone sugguest a new colour sceme? and a main banner ? thanks simon www.classic-sports.co.uk
The main header looks a bit simple and even disturbing for me. Also your product is too much scrolled down on the page. What you could do is make a nice header starting from left (not centered) and going a bit farther then half page, and next to that make a table or something to write your "welcome info"... that way the header looks nicer and your products will be on top also with the same information.
It looks pretty straight forward, maybe adding some roll over effects to the buttons might help to bring it to life but over all except for the top banner/header it looks good.
Fraid I'm going to be a bit of a party pooper here, while I love the concept of the site, I hate the design. Things I dont like about it It just doesnt look professional, certainly not somewhere I would give my money to, and considering I'm your target audience that could be a problem. Its very slow loading (That could be partly my internet connection, or the extra traffic your review thread is generating) Navigating around the site pretty much every category I chose was empty Most of the club images are poor quality, which again detracts from the professionalism of the site. Thats just a short list, but should give you some ideas. The vertical scrolling image gallery just doesnt work for me, its just a distraction, and I also have no real idea what it is, it is famous people with classic shirts, or random members of the public who have bought from you? So negatives over, if someone came to me to redesign this here is what I would do Quick Wins - Things you can do without major work Get decient club images. Optimize the image sizes you have, some of them are huge for no real reason I would replace the header image with something a little more colourful, but not too much, I would also half its height. I would also frame it in a full width black background. This would mean the logo wouldnt stick out like a sore thumb. I would also use the black as a left column where the menu's go. I like the mouse over on the menu items others have suggested If possible it would be nice to see how many items are in a category before selecting it, perhaps a number in brackets after the name? I would replace the vertical scrolling, widget and replace it with something along the lines of http://www.electricprism.com/aeron/slideshow/example2.html On actual item pages I would remove the "Click to enlarge" popup, and use a javascript Lightbox script instead, such as http://www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/ Jen
Sorry, but as a keen football fan, it's not the sort of website I would consider buying from. I don't know why, but unprofessionalism shouts scam to me, and in my eyes this is unprofessional. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you a scammer, but this is what shouts out to me: - The moving image on the right - The poor quality of the team crests - The image quality of the pictures of the items. - The way the website isn't lined up. On a personal note, I also think the banner in the middle of the page with Henry in it looks tacky, and the colour scheme in general is boring. I'm sorry, don't mean to cause offense, but this site doesn't look very professional at all and I wouldn't consider buying from it.
Hi, Do something about logo. Footballs looks artificial. Logo not at all professional. I agree with kiteguy "it's not the sort of website I would consider buying from" make it more professional brother. I guess you can spend few $$ for your site to make it professional. there are many professionals on DP you can find someone and redesign your site. All the best for your new venture.
Hi thanks for your comments, could you tell me what you mean by website not lined up? also is it the way the pictures are positioned? the items in the picture? im currently having my digital camera fixed, had to use my old one, thank you simon
Hi just wondered what you mean the website is not lined up? i do agree with you on the image quality will have that looked at, what would you like to see instead of the moving image? thank you simon
I mean the edge of the header isn't level with the navigation bar, and, in my opinion, it makes it look slightly odd. No offense, but I would say that if you were serious about this project, you would hold a contest or something for a web design. You'll see some remarkable stuff. Either way, best of luck in the future.
Hi no offence taken, and i agree with you, i will be doing a contest when my 2 weeks are up so i can post in that catogorie thank you simon
Make the banner more attractive and also make a little bit stylish...some vintage touch to the theme...
