I'm looking forward to hearing from you about my two sites: 1. Helpedia ( http://www.helpedia.com ) This project is my first ever, it started because I wanted to post on it tutorials, guides of my own and to make a better version of (the very famous in the VB world) API Guide. Unfortunately, univeristy classes, got employed and so on, less and less time to write long quality articles. I'm mostly concerned about the design, about it's faults in IE and about it's resemblence with Anandtech (inspired from it's css template). Tips about ad placement would be great. Site gets about 30-50 unique visitors daily. 2. TGDB ( http://www.tgdb.net ) Fresh site, started about one month ago. The ideea is to become a site about game cheats, solutions, walkthrough and as soon as it becomes popular to extend it to reviews, charts, place about 5 locations where people can buy the game.. and so on and so forth. I'm not confortable with the white background under the main content and I don't have any ideeas about how to replace it. Where do you think ads should be placed. Is the vertical banner in a good spot? How about 468x60 banners under cheats or solutions ? Thank you all for your tips.
first: you need new logo and header, the navigationat the left is way to far then the content they should be side by side, change the two different blue blocks at the bottom they aren't going right like this second: much better in design, although you didn't put any logo or sitename but i guess the site isn't finish yet the ad you can put it under the game index - letters as 468*60 (the main middle is most high revenue place for ad placement)
Helpidia looks nice, but the add banner that you have on top is very annoying and irritate some users. I would recommend using Google ad sense or a static add.
Like newera already stated. It needs a logo. I like the overall design. Maybe you could fill in some warm (but not heavy) color somewhere.
Thank you all for your comments. From the first reply, I've made some small changes on Helpedia and added a small banner on TGDB. Now I realize I definately need to produce better banners or logos for both sites, not sure how I'm going to manage it because I really suck at graphics. Maybe I'll hire someone to do it for me, don't know yet. If there is anything else you think of, please let me know, I'll appreciate it.
