My two main sites are www.BoardingScene.com and www.Bizlinked.com BoardingScene is a boarding community which is predicted to soon be a pr4-pr5 with the help from streetfire.net... BizLinked will be launching the 15th and will be a site devotedto giving cheap high quality links to web owners... Tell me what you think is good and bad on the two sites, and rate the sites in my poll. Thanks for the help...
1) Need to check the readability of your text. On both sites I had a hard time reading the gray on white. 2) You should probably have different favicons for each site, and currently neither one fits the site. 3) For bizlinked, 'Database is still being built...'? Yikes. a) there should be a space before the '...' - b) having text like this is not a good idea. 4) Same site as #3, I feel there's too much 'white' space in your banner. It also doesn't match your site's look. Honestly, I like the look of the site a lot more than I like the look of the banner. 5) Same site as before, on /info.html you've got a 404 link to /join.php. 6) Lo-fi version of The Boarding Scene is pretty vanilla. May want to change the style just a bit, to perserve the style of the normal version.
It is on my machine, and the brightness/contrast should be pretty good (at least, the last time I played UT2004 and the like it displayed as it should). I suppose I should hunt down that image that lets you calibrate your monitor ... Certainly get some more feedback on it, but typically, grey on white is troublesome.
Ok... Thanks. Maybe I chould change the font to black or something on biz linked when I am done developing. As for boarding scene, thats going to be alot tougher, because the website was based off of gray. Hmm...
Ok, here's my 2 cents worth: - I am not a "boarder" so I didn't know what the site was all about at first - not until I went to the blog. Of course real "boarders" probably would, but some short promo content at the top of the page wouldn't hurt, for boarders and non-boarders alike. -as for the second site, maybe it's just me, but I don't quite understand the linking formula. Can you explain it a little better? And when will if go "live"?
... Linking formula is top secret for now, I really dont want to release how everything works. But its a type of link exchange, without the bulk if having links everywhere, and with the ability to generate hudreds of links in a single day if you got the money to spend. It was originally going to be $0.50 per link, but I am thinking $0.35 or so whould be better. Release date is somewhere around the 15th. How is the sites design so far though? Its more of a "beta" design, so there is lots of room for improvement, or maybe even a new one...
I agree. Also, looking at this again, it would be nice if the 'Latest Threads' had greater differentiation between them. Right now, they look like one big block of content, and it's hard to tell where one ends, and where one starts (short of hovering over the text, trying to find links). Black, for the text, might just work.
