forums have terribly low CTR, no matter where and how you place the ads. you will have tons of page views from regular members who will totally ignore the ads. it's somewhat better to get a forum skin that has a LEFT navigation column, where you will put a 160*600 ad, in my experience that was the only placement that somehow converted. good luck!
