it load pretty fast on my side here~

You might like to install the youtube/google video mod (which I have done too), so you can add trailers into your post and users can see it from there.

    Thanks for the comments.

iatbm: Load time is ok for me, but some tools show it as very slow. Might have to look into this and see what the problem might be.

mendna: I installed the youtube mod today actually. Here's the post I made: http://www.flicksforum.com/showthread.php?p=19

Very nice and clean. I would remove the car image on the upper left, replace it with a well known car perhaps from "The fast and the...". I like the portraits of the actors. Well done.

i like. One thing I'd do is either with .htaccess or something is make all forums and posts clean urls.. no ? & etc... will index faster and better.. no sessionid as well.

Perhaps your webhost's server is having issues. When this happens to me I usually IM them and they reset the webservices. That usually takes care of it for me.

    Great site btw.

Site opens in about 9 seconds and load fully in about 13 seconds on 1.44MB/s connection in Europe. But speed tests show better results. Anyway, as tips from the test say: You have 105Kb of images on a site which can be THE MAIN reason for slow site loading. Plus you have over 70KB of scripts. The Home page has to be as simple as possible (few images/scripts/ links).

The biggest single image is this one and the next one is this. Optimal Home page size should not exceed 100KB, your's has almost 186KB.

Read above speed test carefully, it shows all issues very clearly.

Hosting server (DNS) timing shows good result (A), so I think it's OK (regarding site speed).

Alertra.com loading speed test from various parts of the world shows excellent results - they actually test your hosting server, not your site.

People who access your site from a big distance from your hosting server - which is in U.S. (e.g. from Australia) will probably open a site slowly.

Connection type (56K modem) affects spped a LOT. See the first test.

    Reasons for slow loading summary:
1st and the most important: images/scripts/links on your site. Remove some.
2nd: big distance or slow connection of visitors.

DESIGN: You have no subtitle. It is good if someone can find out in a second that's about movie forum...
I personaly don't like black background.
I would place the complete left column on the right side of the board. Search and login will be accessible from there just the same way and forum will be "closer" to visitor. I must remind you that every additional image in the left menu contributes 5kb to the Home page size which slows the loading and does not contribute to navigation.

NAVIGATION: Register link in upper menu should be placed as the last and available from the login box also. Nobody usually uses calendar on forums. Serach link is also not necessary, because you already have a serach field on the left. I would try to move this field in the middle of the site, more peiople wiol probably use it.

About CONTENT. Not fair to comment it now on the beginning, only this: There are a lot of movie forums around. People will come if you will have some strong service or competition or feature there. Then some movie clips, good orginized lists, multi search option...

About SEO: You should mention a "movie forum" in the introduction text on the top. You can check how your forum looks in other browsers. Click and leave the test opened about an hour, so all screenshots will be made.

Good blending of the ads. What I would replace is the car image on the left with a more high quality photograph.
