Sorry for the late reply, been a bit busy these past weeks. Thanks for all of the suggestions on improvement and also thanks for all the wonderful feedback. I've decided to go with the monochrome version, since it suits my portfolio more than the colorful version. You can see it in action at Rihtar Designs website.
I think its a very good concept, and probably with just some small tweaks could be a nice solid logo. I haven't read through this whole thread so I apologize if I duplicate anything anyone else has already said. The all grey design feels too bland and incomplete to me, but the follow up multi-color version looks silly to me. I think what I would do is leave the symbol all grey except for one of the squares. Add color to just one of the squares, then use that color for the "Rihtar". I think doing that you should make "Designs" black to blend with the symbol. I'm not a fan of the fonts used, they don't really seem to go together. I like the idea of a heavy font for "Rihtar" and a light font for "Designs", but I think you need to look around for some different fonts. In particular the "R" and "g" are what bother me the most, be sure to look at the letterforms for all letters when choosing a font. Finally, whatever font you use, you really need to look at the kerning. It feels awkward when the spacing between each letter isn't directly addressed. You can't just type the word into a graphic text tool and call it a day, you really need to treat each letter as it's own object unless your graphic tool allows you to do custom letter-by-letter kerning. The space between "ht" feels larger than the space between the other letters. The kerning of Designs seems balanced, but I think the space is too much between each letter. Hope that helps. Of course, it's all subjective and merely my opinion. Take it all with a grain of salt. Larry
yes, this logo is good but u can make much better.

nice try but you can make it more appealing by changing the font style and adding black color with the grey
