    Yes, an own domain with paid hosting account would be much better than a blogspot blog.
    My suggestion to you is to use the same colors for adsense and the rest of your site!

    Have you thought about switching to lighter colours? Combine that with more content (with a little time) and you could be on your way :)

    Get off of blogspot. Start your own site. Or once you gain alot of followers on your blog then switch to your own site. Good luck and keep it up!
