The dark purple is definitely eye catching...so much so, it distracts me away from the content

So far there isn't any targeted topics, infact the name "dream world" is full of imagination, there are many topics you can feed, but I recommended to focus on something which can attract a group of visitors continue to support your site, of couse you can monetize from it.
