Review my lyrics site - XXLyrics.com

I am running it for last 6 months. For last month I was getting a good traffic from Yahoo Search and I was avareging around 2000-2500 uniques total per day. But last Yahoo update dropped my site unique visitors to old values, 250-300 per day.

Anyway I am still adding fresh content (lyrics) and trying to keep the site live. I also thought that I am still in Google Sandbox (I am getting a very low traffic from Google that is usually from images.google or non-google.com sites of Google) I think my biggest fault was that I have launched the site with 65.000 lyrics built-in it on March 2005. It possibly raised flags for Google.

For revenue I was getting ~10$ per day - with AdSense - for the last month (while I was getting 2000-2500 visitors per day) Now it is 1-2$ per day :| I also started selling linkworth text-link ads which would make me 100-150$ per month. I have no other income for the site.

Would you please comment on the site and help me to make it better. Very much thanks in advance.

Looks a great site..

Lyrics are hard to rank well as everyone has the "same" content. This tends to trigger a duplicate filter as everyone has the same song lyrics on 150k pages most of the time...

That would probably explain the yahoo drop in your instance.

To counteract this, try to add more content to lyrics. Like maybe a history of each band at the bottom of their pages. Add more fields to the "submit lyrics" DB and you will get different page content to the thousands of other lyrics sites on the net.

Also, try and get your forum theme to match your site. This will get you more indexed pages as users will give you content, and give you more traffic.

Previously all my AdSense banner colors were relevant to my site them, green. When I changed them to dyamic colors, like current ones, they started to perform better.

I think you should create few Resciprocal links or add web directory this will help ranking and traffic.

 

I am trying to add my link to free directories, and i also making link exchanges with the same themed, lyrics, sites. And 2-3 days ago I have listed in DMOZ, that is good news Btw they say the backlinks don't show their actual powers while you are in SandBox, and i think i am in. Anyway I am waiting the day

 

Nice design... seems like there is a bit to much advertising though at the top. Makes everything seem all cluttered.

I like the Green/Yellow of the page ... but I had a purple google ad at the top when I loaded it the first time ... You should probably set your google ad colors to match your site ... or at least something so it doesn't come up purple.

 

I used rotating color schemes for that leaderboard. For colors i have used the same schemes here in DP Forum I think it gets attention of people, doesn't it?
