Have just finished the main Gardening ideas site and setup the basic pbpBB forum a few days back http://www.freegardenideas.net the forum needs a small amount of tweaking but the initial work on the site is finished.

Thank you for reviewing the site.

Since it is a gardening site I would suggest a green background rather than pink

Your forum colors should match the main website colors. When I went to your forum, I thought I had left the site because of the sudden theme change.

I second the green background, pink and gardening???

Point taken and we will try and get it all changed as you have suggested, your comments are most welcome and thinking about it pink does not look good.Oh well back to the drawing board on that one as luck it is not a major problem to change the colour and we also have a new template to blend the forum into the same colour as the website.

    Once again thanks.

Some feedback on the background colour of the website do you think a light green or a dark green will suit the site ????

I think the new "earth friendly" green, which is a light to medium green would look really nice as a background. Is there anyway to move the ad's to the bottom of the page?

I like that idea it would blend in well with the theme of gardening, regarding the ad's i hear what you are saying but they are placed so as to maximise revenue and to me that is what owning a site is all about but saying that not having 100s of adverts as that would also have a bad effect,so i guess you have to compromise;)

    Thanks for your input..........

First of all i would like to say that " DONT USE TABLES"
You should not use tables .
    Should i repeat that again??

If you are not that experienced in xhtml/css ( i am not saying that you are but if you are ) you should start off with some sort of tutorial or better use a template and edit that.

Use this colour scheme if you have photoshop
    http://rapidshare.com/files/123542421/green.aco.html

i would suggest you download it now.

Secondly i would say to use some sort of image rather than text.

I hope you understand what i was pointing to

    Regards,
    Ace.

For me, I think a combination of dark green as banner, soft green for background with black font would be nice. You just have to try it out.

Thank you for the input,as you have mentioned it is a case of trying various combinations and as we all know websites are always evolving and i would be the 1st person to say it is not perfect and prehaps we may never find that holy grail combination but in terms of ticking the boxes for the search engines with new content every day it does a pretty good job.

The thing is as i see it you could be a massive big company with a very big budget and you could then produce a work of art for a website the other option is like most of us we have to develop the sites over time as our budgets are small and we are all learning as we go along.

What i will say is this project will go from strength to strength but that is only because i want it to and asking other peoples ideas and thoughts.

Once again thank you for your comments.

site needs more content. Probably softer fonts would look better. Background can be light green

    thanks
