Okay, I've recently launched a new forum site.

It's phpbb - so not exactly perfect, but I'd like some technical reviews as well as general thoughts on it's design and potentional.

    I like it.
I watch the show and i always hate it when it's over.
My ladyfriend also watches it so i'll give her the link :)
Do a bit of SEO on the forum, helps a lot.
Especially getting rid of sid's for guests ;)

    Hey, thanks.

I don't know much about SEO - espeically with a forum, but I'm going to do a little reasearch on that now.

What do you mean "getting rid of the sid's for guests"? (sorry if I'm a little webmaster illiterate there)

Well, your site has sids, se's don't really like those.
I saw them getting indexed but it's better if guests (like bots) don't get any.
    Sids look like this:
    index.php?sid=96d5860872fb209b8af43135f1864367
There are several mods out there.
I'm using the guest session mod by cyberalien (phpbbstyles.com).

Thanks for pointing that out - hopefully that'll get the search engines in there. I got one hit from googlebot, but that's it.

I think I've got it installed right - not too diffcult.

Thanks - is there anything else I can do to make it more SE friendly?

I like it but you should add the Seo Services thread also.

It looks nice and clean, but maybe too clean. What I mean is that it feels a bit empty and except for that character in gray header it doesn't really tells you what the forum is about. You have to look at the domain name or forum titles for clues so my suggestion would be to add a title in the header like "Lost Discussion" with maybe even a slogan like "A place to talk about the Lost" or whatever.. :)

    Best of luck

Ya, I think that way to. To much white and I think someone went a little over board with their ps filter (gaussian blur). The topic is not bad for those that watch that show, so for what it's centered on I think it's fine but I would really spend some time on making a better design.

Thanks everyone - I really appreciate the comments.

I don't really think a "title" is needed - anyone who'd be interested in the forum or the show could tell by the heading picture and forum names.

And yeah, it's just a phpbb template and I added the header. It's "Nosebleed" - you can find it on phpbb.com

Also, that's just the default skin...I've set up three others I believe, including a darker one (with Jin, if you know who he is).

Looks pretty good. Logo could use a little work though and maybe some type of color added in on the forum sections.

Have you ever used this? It looks like some fairly heavy modification. In other words, has anyone actually seen an improvement by doing this, and was it worth it?

It's not bad, but this one is better: www.LostHatch.com
