Dash is better in my opinion. But that won't make much difference. Just focus on creating good content and in building links.

 

dash... readable.. if you read newspaper, you will not see "_" however, "-" is pretty common.. "_" is used in computer programs, software source codes...and google treats it as such

 

I prefer with "-" especially if it is a very long domain name.

 

Use correct Anchor tags and meta tags!!!

just look at the dashboard menu, select setting and chose permalinks.
select custom structure and please you insert the code /%postname%.html

hypen is treated as a space by most search engines. what you have is much more SEO friendly than having something similar to pondicherrytimes. com/3w432432/234123412 ..

 

i think u can setting the permalink of wordpress like this /%categori%/%postname%.html

 

Permalinks is the way to go with Wordpress..and mine plugs in -.

I see a few things you could to to better optimize the page for this term, so I'd start there. Once you have completed your on page optimization, I'd start a link building campaign. it doesn't look like the site ahead of you have much going for it, so it shouldn't be hard.

 

From where I am sitting, you are #1. Might you have personalization turned on?

 

Ur domain is very nice just do some quality linking and wait u will be at #1

There is plenty you can do to become 1st in google

- Write articles ( your niche keywords in the title ) then submit to article directories e.g. ezine articles etc
- Blog posting
- Link building on high quality sites (PR2+)
- Twitter/Facebook

what does this mean pondicherry times .anyways after your website in google search result there is a small arrow at the end click it upwards .you will see your domain at 1st position in your Google search result after adding website name.
