I agree with you, regarding the game categoru column, but would rather offer making it better in design, because it doesn't fit the game selection block in any way. Moreover, you could also add one more block below this list, like the tag cloud, or the hottest game of the month, whatever you'll think of

Your site has got much potential, in case you modify it a bit, from my personal point of view, I didn't like the way you've chosen the place for a welcome post.
