not bad, but i think your theme is so simple, most of the people now a days like to see colorful and funky sites! You should also use a logo on your site than the text. good content btw, but few content.
For the blog: It's not bad, but you have to work on it also from a graphics point of view, not only seo. I think all the users would like to see something that's visually pleasing and your theme is too simple as design & too loaded with low quality images. The logo is not professional.The sidebar is empty and you can push the google search on header to the right side.
Why you put adds at header place it is not looks good and you should create a new logo for your site.
I wanted to fall in love with your blog simply for the content alone. But what stopped me was the logo or lack there of. You have amazing content, just get a logo up there to finish her off!
