Hi all, My discount lighting store Light Up Uk has been running for nearly 2 years now. Could you please comment on the general layout and usability, look and feel. Also please look at some internal product areas such as the Fire Rated Downlights section. All comments and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.
Awesome! I like your categories navigation. Just some suggestions: - when something is in shopping cart, your CHECKOUT button is going outside of shopping cart box - when I am on this page (http://www.lightupuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=441_59_138) - I have button Add selected products to cart. When I click - nothing happens. I can not see options to select products. May I ask you wich ecommerce script is your site running on?
Thank you for your in-depth reply, the platform is zencart and the template is designed by www.e-wisewebs.co.uk. Could you possibly tell me what browser and version you using to view the site as the checkout link should not be outside the box. Thanks.
Yeh, differing browser issues are a pain. Ill play around with it and see if I can get it looking nice in them all!
Thank you for your kind comment. The site has been growing well, we have been working extremely hard on our other business practices such as extremely high levels of customer service, quality product sourcing etc. The only thing I would say is given all of the seo work that has been put into the site, the organic rankings are disappointing but we will continue to work on this.
Does anyone have any comments on the seo side of things? Any help in that department is always appreciated.
try putting the login link at the top instead at the bottom of the menu. also fr social plugins, try putting them beside each other or put some box around them
Thank you for the comments. I may try switching the location of the login links. With regards the social plugins I have had a nightmare trying to get these to render right in all of the browsers and will be working on getting this section looking more aesthetic.
I would recommend increasing your font sizes so your readers don't have to squint to read your products. They grey and green look a little washed out together and the blue is a bit random. Maybe try to stick to two-3 primary colours that work well together
Fair points thank you. I think increasing the font size is definitely worth a try and will get that implemented shortly. I must disagree with the colour scheme. The grey and green are designed to be relatively subtle to make the important product content more punchy. The blue is random however is associated with most people as a hyperlink colour thus the logic behind using it.
Nice site, only advice i could give is that the product list page needs brightening up a bit to match the layout of the homepage more, good work
Thank you, eco side of things was taken into account when generating the template due to the wide range of energy saving items we list.
