Review: Google groups alternative. Built from ground up

I started this site back in 2008. I had two failures since 2006 when the software I wrote just couldn't handle the load properly. Eventually I came by the funds to build a new one and give it the resources it needed.
this site has thousands of members. Thousands of standard groups. It is basically the same things as google groups.

Reason for making: Problem was that 'G' tied into the newsgroup network but soon monopolized the content and stopped feeding back to the network. Eventually they broke off from the hierarchy of newsgroups but then again newsgroups are the least flexible people. Newsgroups/forums is a great source of tons of useful information, lot of active discussions. Instead of creating new groups and forums people are encouraged to gather under one group so information can be exchanged on relevant topic which are broad enough. The site feedbacks to the newsgroups and controls spam both ways.

Unfortunately by exposing the system to the web there is always the nasty spammers. However the group moderators take care of most of it and we do our part for the community by making sure that the system limits exposure to internet nasties.

My site is not fully developed as I go on n off, plus I have new projects that I would like to spend more time on. I hope some of you find it useful, there is every imaginable topic created from before internet even existed and eventually moved to the internet. You are sure to find people actively engaged in a discussion of things you found weird (did I just describe the internet?)

    Questions/comments welcome :)

sorry i just saw your post and not sooner. Not sure where you are looking for in terms of user activity. Not all groups have equal activity. the Ebay UK users group for example is very active.
