Hi, I have never got this site reviewed from dp but I just reupdated it to changed the theme. http://elitelinuxforum.com Please tell me how it looks and all that. It gets lots of traffic but no one currently sign-up If any one can posts tips that would be great. I have tried digg, stumble etc... Thanks.
It was a bit difficult to read the text for me.. Try to make the font more contrasting. And also that blue things distract when you read.
I agree, it is difficult to read the text. I think it looks nice, but for a forum where you would hope people would spend a lot of time reading/posting, it will be difficult to keep reading that text for a while.
Your forum name is too big and also the header ! Don't need to be that big ! Button color and header is boring !
Add the Linux penguin to your header, and write some tutorials/guides about Linux to get your visitors interested, and maybe they'll sign up.
Maybe dull down the blue writing a little. The contrast is a little heavy - perhaps that it just my eyes or monitor though. Install the SEO plug-in from the myBB site. Also, you might want to consider merging a few of the subforums until you actually get some posting done otherwise it will look quite empty for a long time. Acquire posts and then start to frac out the forums. I agree with 1-3-3-7 about the tutorials. Add several tutorials and then submit them to tutorial sites to get the visitors in. It'll get you traffic, perhaps not sign ups. Maybe add another subforum for "Premium Tutorials" and make it members only to encourage sign ups. It is also a good idea to change the location of the ACP from /admin - the myBB community forum has inctrustions on how to do this.
The font is hard to read. Definitely change the theme. Just a word of advice. I am also working on starting up a forum. In the beginning, you have to start small and make your forum look more active then it actually is. You can do this by: 1) Get rid of all those categories!! Have only about 4-5 subforums. This way all the conversation is compact into a small area and the community is always active. When you start getting more topics and more users, then start adding more subforums according to demand 2) Exchange posts with other forum owners. This is a really good, easy, and free way to build up a community 3) If you have to, pay for posts. 4) Do not try to monetize in the beginning 5) Put your forum URL in the sig of other forums related to yours. Good luck
