Well, what I'm gonna tell probably can't be considerred as professional tips or so hehe, but however I'll give my opinion on your site It is a very good design, however I think this kind of designs are usually used for gaming-related sites; while webmaster communities use more simple designs. However, this is a good design and quite original too. Further I like your use of flash animations, which are used very professionally. Not too much, but just enough. I hope this helps you a little bit *ps: nice contents too!
Nice funky design - but had a plain box in the top left hand corner... what that meant to do something?
Hehe well that is really kind of you. Yes its not really a webmaster community more of a web-development community infact. Anyways we will have more new themes out next time. Please do check out the control panel of the CMS if you grab a chance by registering. Take Care and thanks for the honest comments! By the way please guys review the site professionally, giving me hard comment or criticsm and i will inexchange give you free rep if i think its credible.
nice clean design however it would be nice to be able to colaps the things you don't want in the nav bar, for exsample i don't want to know about content submission because i am only learning so i want to make it so only the title of that folder shows, and then the nav bar shortens. just makes it a bit more useable imo
No problem, well for the rest of you who do review the site and only by registering, because i want to know what you guys think about the control Panel on the site. Once you do review the site let me know, so i add rep to your account.
Thank you, appreciate the comments it would be great if you can register and give me a review about the control panel for users. Anyways rep given for the review. Anyone else who is interested in reviewing me would be award a rep.
Sorry for later reply hehe .. thanks for rep Here my usercp review The images you use for the menu are very good; they fit the template very precisely. Myself, I'ld get all menu items in one row, while you in fact use 2 rows; but thats just my personal opinion. What I really like about this UserCP is that it looks so unique. You have features a lot of other CMSes have too, but you get it done to make them look unique. By example the groups overview .. you made a very nice overview of the groups, BUT immediatly it is also very simple and easy to understand, something other CMSes miss. (Now I've to admit that for groups, you have a almost unique feature: users limit ) About the member list, myself I'ld put both email and website in the same column, but like how you do, it makes your CMS again more userfriendly What I miss in the members list, is some small user icon before the username -maybe-. That icon could indicate whether the user is online or not OR could indicate the rank of the particuliar user (by example a special admin icon, special member icon and special banned icon). I think that's it for now ... I hope this helps you again a bit lol **edit: a suggestion for feature for your CMS: make the age field automatic, like with vBulletin and such: people enter their birth date, and the script calculates the age automaticly peace, hans
Quick comments - Nice page design - but the color contrast isn't that great - i mean the fonts don't stand out that well in contrast to the background - particularly those links on the very top left and the search bar on the top right (it almost blends in with the background and is hardly visible) - Site seems to be too cluttered with information - seems like you have tried to maximize the content on each and every page. May be that is the way you want it. - The font size is too small and the site doesn't have a variable font - this is a major disadvantage when it comes to certain users. It is always a good idea to use variable font size (define the font size in terms of percentage rather than absolute values in your css). - The site banner at the top is hard for me to understand - it doesn't look very appealing to me - that is how I feel - may be i am wrong More later. Good luck.
Thank you for the reviews, i would appreciate if you could register and give me a more detailed comment on how you feel with the user friendly control panel at Kenetix.net Any further comments and critique is greatly appreciated. If you do register and review the control panel and user friendlyness i would "rep" you later.
I like the design, but I would like to see some break from the grey color somewhere. I am signed up and will come back for a better review. //Andreas
Just some comments from what I've seen... I didn't read the above comments, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating anything. -Too much gray. Gray/silver is a good color for the website, but there the website almost looks like I've viewing it on a black & white monitor. It really should have a splash of color mixed in somewhere. Perhaps orange or red? -The design itself is alright otherwise. Very sleek looking, but almost too "l33t" looking. Not sure exactly how to put it, but when looking at it I can't help but think it's not a unique design. -Lots of links in the sidebar. Any way to condense that a little? Resources probably doesn't need to list "PR Lookup" and "Theme Tutorial" -"Welcome." What's the point of that welcome image? You could fit an image for a feature or perhaps an advertisement up there. -Content seems to be good and plentiful, and a lot of helpful articles. Glad to see content is being focused on, as that will bring more people to the website. -Are all of the Flash effects really needed? They look nice, but having too many can bog down slower connections. Take them for what you will.
I agree with the other reviewers. The site design is fine, but the colors make it very difficult to navigate. I'm much more a fan of very simple layouts such as DP's forums, rather than the "3d spaceship control panel" feel. On the control panel and site itself, I guess I'm just confused what one would use it for. I registered under a friend's name (salvance - note yahoo flags your e-mails as spam, so I had to dig it out), and just couldn't figure out how this was any different than a forum with a difficult to navigate design. I'm not a web developer, just a blogger, so I probably just don't understand. For example, why would I want to submit content and tutorials outside of the forums? If the focus is the forums (which is the only place I'd visit), the rest just makes it tougher to navigate. I'd be in fvaor of eliminating the sidebar entirely and putting those features into dropdown menus, kind of like DP. Hope this helps some, Anita
i really dont care about getting any rep or any back links, but this is my honest opinion posted here
Its so shiney!! Wait a second, were suppose to be reviewing? hehe! Just as a heads up, in the welcome email do not include username/password combination together, atleast in the same email. That is a security hole. Your control panel looks very clean; and very organized. I like the large buttons for each... it does sort of remind me of a windows environment. Also, just as aheads up as maybe I am moving around to quick, but I have been around on your website and do not have a single clue what it is about. All I know is that I have signed up to a really shiny website (hehe) and that I can advertise on it, but for what reasons. (Keep in mind i am typing this as I am browsing around so you are in the site with me as my "first glances" at it. However, after returning to the homepage I now understand what is going on (most of that was probobly just me being to click happy ) I do like how you have your advertising system setup, with the little red-boxes to show where it will be placed. Nicely done on that. One thing I noticed as well on the menu on the top that is flash, you have to click once to activate it (I know, stupid internet explorer). Their is a workaround for this though, I believe by using javascript to display it (document.write('<object blah=bleh'); ) <== something along those lines though. FLAT OUT REVIEW: Nice site, it is a little overwhelming at first, but is still easily navigatable, so while it seems overwhelming, their is enough organization to it to keep my head on straight. Found some good information too. Good luck, looks like fun... I may even do some more browsing around.
Great review guys, i will take everything into consideration and try my best to optimize the site and anything else that is necessary in order of it being much better then its current state! Keep the reviews coming and rep has been sent out to all that have reviewed kenetix.net Thanks!
Well, I am not very professional so can't give some professional tips or so but however I'll give my opinion on your site from a normal use. I found good design on your site and you have good content too there. Your point system is also good and have good ads too. Your forum is very active for me. Can you tell me how many time we can click on Ads? You have Google Ads and might some members click on that ads many time. So be carefull about it and tell your members about it. Thats it for me.
Thank you for the review, actually you can only click the banners that are on "Advertistment" no other ads should be clicked including google ads as it is a violation of the TOS. The advertistment ads can be click 3 times, individualy each. Green rep sent!
